About Puri
One of the four holiest places in India, Puri is washed by the sea, and embraced by causarina - fringed beaches. Situated on the eastern coastline of the country, Puri is most well known as an important Hindu pilgrimage center. Besides, Puri’s awesome wide white-sandy beaches, fishing farms and excellent resorts make it an inviting tourist destination.

Puri has a number of religious and cultural tourist destinations, as well as interesting excursion sites nearby. Visiting the Lord Jagannath temple, walking on the beach and experiencing the glorious sunrise and sunset are probably some of the best things to do in Puri. The Jagannath Temple, one of the four most important Hindu pilgrimage sites or the Chardham is located here. The surf on the beaches here is one of the best on the entire eastern coastline of India.

Puri is also known for local arts and craft articles, garments and other utility items made out of applique work. Silver Filigree, locally known as Tarakashi, Wood sculpture, images of gods and goddesses are bought by tourists for their marvellous beauty.
